What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM card. eSIMs allow you to connect to networks around the world without having to put a new physical SIM card in your phone. Simply buy a plan install your eSIM in a few taps and connect instantly.

How will I get my SIM?

No physical SIM card is needed. Our SIM is digital (eSIM) which you can install on your device within minutes. After you have purchased and activated your eSIM in the ShopBack app we’ll show you how to install and activate your eSIM. Make sure your device supports eSIM (see below).

How do I know if my device is eSIM compatible?

Most newer smartphones support eSIM. Generally:

  • iPhones: Models released from iPhone XR and newer.
  • Samsung Galaxy: Most models from S21 onwards.
  • Google Pixel: From Pixel 4a and newer.
  • Other Brands: Many flagship models from OnePlus Xiaomi and other major brands.

Checking compatibility easily:

  • Option 1: Go to your phone’s Settings > Mobile Network > Add eSIM. If you see this option your device is eSIM compatible.
  • Option 2: Visit the Manufacturer’s Compatibility Page for the latest information.

Important notes:

  • Carrier unlock required: Your device must be carrier unlocked to use an eSIM.
  • Regional limitations: Devices sold in China may not support eSIM even if the model does in other countries.

How do I know if my phone is unlocked?

Your device must be carrier unlocked to use an eSIM plan. If you're unsure whether your device is carrier unlocked you can find out via your device settings. Reference the Carrier Lock description in your settings to determine your device status. “No SIM restrictions” means that your device is unlocked. If you don't see that message please contact customer support.

How do I install an eSIM?

Installing an eSIM only takes a minute. Once you’ve purchased your eSIM we will show you step by step instructions for how to install it on your device and activate it.

Where can I buy a ShopBack eSIM?

When will my eSIM activate?

Once you’ve installed your eSIM and turned it on your eSIM will activate as soon as you are in the supported country or region. 

Can I install multiple eSIMs on one phone?

Yes you can install activate and use multiple eSIMs on your phone. This means you can add an eSIM to your phone while keeping your primary SIM active.

Can I use my ShopBack eSIM as a hotspot for other devices?

Yes ShopBack’s eSIM supports hotspot so you can connect other devices such as laptops securely to the internet while you’re on the move.

Are ShopBack’s eSIMs secure?

Can I turn an eSIM off and on?

Yes you can. Your eSIM usually appears as a secondary line on your device and you can turn it on or off at any time in your phone’s settings.

Can I get a replacement eSIM?

Yes you can. If you're having trouble with your current eSIM: Open the app → Account → My eSIMs → select your eSIM → Need help? Troubleshoot eSIM activation issues → follow the steps to Replace eSIM

Can I get a refund for my eSIM?

Refunds are only available if we are unable to successfully provision or deliver your eSIM after payment.

Once the eSIM has been successfully issued to your account the order is considered fulfilled and is not eligible for a refund.
